“Getting the right images for our print ad and website seemed like a daunting task. But, I’m amazed – Anne listened to every jumbled idea I had and created beautiful photographs for us. Trusting her with our project was the best decision we could have made. She is truly the best to work with.”
– Brittni Wendling of the Custom Flavors Team
About the Client
Custom Flavors manufactures all-natural flavorings, and needed a photographer who could bring those flavors to life. As a team of scientists, they wanted to find a creative partner who could transform their science into art. The existing website felt a little dated and commercial, and they were ready for new images that matched the natural taste of their product – a comprehensive library to show off hundreds of flavors in an inviting and organic way. And they needed someone who could take the project from conceptualization through to final editing with minimal creative direction.
About the Project
The goal was to bring the flavors to life with images you could almost taste. We started with a creative brainstorming call to discover the information needed to build a storyboard and conceptualize the imagery, and from there, a shot list. Then it was time to bring those concepts to life – I purchased the ingredients, found perfect props, cooked & styled the food, and shot the flavor compounds as reimagined in living form.
About the Images
Each flavor had its own story to be told, and some of my favorite shots were the action shots born out of those stories – sprinkles going on ice cream, rainbows of candy, chocolate cake with hot fudge pouring over it, and maple syrup drizzling over waffles. I ordered candy canes and pumpkin pie in the middle of Spring for seasonal shots, and there were the healthy shots too, with nuts, honey, and an array of herbs and citrus. It was a culinary playground with boundless potential for creative inspiration.
The Results
A large library of images that portrays flavor concepts in a real and organic way.
