It’s rare in life to meet our heroes, let alone get to photograph them out in a field of tomatoes & sunflowers, break bread with them, and even sip a little wine with them. Which is why I’m still pinching myself after a phenomenal experience last month at The Ecology Center in San Juan Capistrano where I had the opportunity to document its 8th Annual Green Feast hosted by the legendary Chef Alice Waters of Berkeley’s Chez Panisse on Saturday, June 18th, 2016.
It was only natural for Chef Alice, aka “the mother of the farm-to-table movement,” to join forces with Evan Marks, Founder & Director of The Ecology Center, to help raise awareness for community building, sustainable agriculture, and edible education in every school. Together they, with their respective teams, and a kitchen-full of some of the best regional chefs from all over Southern California executed an incredible event that left a lasting impression on everyone who attended.
Below is my recap-through-photographs of a truly inspirational evening where community accords were signed, chefs cooked their hearts out, and lucky diners gathered at long community tables under an open sky, while eating locally-sourced, perfectly-prepared dishes. The epitome of true farm-to-table living.
You won’t want to miss the 9th Annual Green Feast taking place in just two short months on Saturday, September 10th, 2016! Click here for details & ticket information on what’s sure to be another amazing event.
