I don’t photograph weddings. I swear. I really don’t. But, if I’m going to make an exception to one of my ‘cardinal rules of Anne Watson Photography’ and shoot a wedding – just this once – then of course it would be for my dear friends Emilie Coulson & Carlos Salgado. Because not only do they happen to be two of the most genuine, kind, and wonderful people I know, but Carlos also happens to be one of the most talented chefs I’ve ever met (and the promise of a delicious meal at the wedding of Taco Maria’s Executive Chef was too tempting to resist!).
So, on Saturday, November 7th, I had the honor of capturing Carlos and Emilie’s wedding day in photographs. Set in the California desert just outside of Joshua Tree National Park in Yucca Valley at a beautiful venue called Le Haut Desert Aerie, we celebrated their marriage under a sun-drenched, crystal-blue sky. Every aspect of their big day held special meaning behind it – the music, their rings, their wedding party & officiant, the decorations, the favors, the toasts, and of course, the food. And don’t even get me started on their vows, there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd. It was an absolutely perfect day full of so much true love, and I couldn’t be happier for them. They share the kind of love that will definitely last a lifetime.
Below, I hope you enjoy this recap of their special day — a collection of “I-don’t-shoot-weddings” photos.
