The Cellar San Clemente is known for some of the best pop-up dinners in Orange County. Most recently, on Monday, January 26, 2015 they hosted an exclusive Winemaker Dinner featuring the wines of the young and talented Edgar Torres of Bodega de Edgar in Paso Robles. Chef Monica Little and her team of superstars in the kitchen (Luis Rios, Kahner Trigg, and Ivylynn Reid) prepared the four-course pairing dinner which was designed to compliment Edgar’s wines while also paying tribute to his Mexican heritage.
Bodega de Edgar wines are made for people who work hard but enjoy playing harder.
Edgar’s story is a testament to the American Dream and a true inspiration. Edgar Torres was born in Buenavista, Michoacan, Mexico and at age eight immigrated to the U.S. with his family to begin a new life in the seaside village of Cambria, California. His true love affair with wine began when he was a waiter in Paso Robles in his early 20’s. There he was exposed to some great winemakers, several of whom became his friends who opened their doors to him, nurtured his winemaking education and taught him about various aspects of the wine industry. He began as a “Cellar Rat” and worked his way up the winery ladder until eventually in 2007 he and his wife developed their own brand, Bodega de Edgar. His focus is on small-production wines that are influenced by his culture and are a tribute to his family – particularly his parents, who worked so hard to create a great life for them.
The Cellar’s Winemaker Dinner was an intimate and memorable evening for the approximately 20 lucky guests who attended and dined on the following:
